Whittlebury Pre-School

The staff at the pre-school are all experienced working with children and all have children of their own. Three of the staff are qualified to level 3 and three have a paediatric first aid training. The manager and deputy have over 80 years experience between them.

The staffing ratio is 1:4 for 2 year olds and 1:5/6 for 3 and 4 year olds.(Government guidelines recommend 1:8)

We spend a lot of time in the outside area, especially during the summer months. Children can enjoy learning through play with lots of open ended resources like wood, reels, guttering to enhance their play, as well as the more conventional play materials.Sand and water play are always popular, as is the mud kitchen where children enjoy making mud cakes and soups among other things.

We like to explore a range of experiences throughout the school year. During the last year we have been to London on the train to visit the London Aquarium, gone on the bus to the local library, travelled on a narrowboat up to the tunnel at Stoke Bruerne and had a visitor who helped the children enjoy lots of drumming with his jembe drums. We obviously need the help of parents to be able to enjoy these experiences, and many that are able are keen to come along. Parents can be as involved with the pre-school as they want, a helping hand is always much appreciated.
